Sorry, I’m Restricting Myself Today…

Food Restrictions- As we all know at this point there are some diets out there that literally remove an entire food group from our diet. Which is not good. 100% not sustainable nor good for the body. Aside from that almost any diet that you look at has some sort of crazy food restriction on them. No wonder why people bounce back and forth between diets. They just don’t work.

Let’s look at different types of food restrictions

Calories

This is probably the biggest guy in the world of food restrictions. Just eat 1200 or less and you will lose weight. WHAT? Even a super healthy super fit person can not sustain 1200 calories that is insane.

It isn’t just simple as ok here is my weight + a little math and BOOM here are the calories that I need to eat every single day. The number of calories that your body needs changes DAILY. The day you work out vs the day you don’t work out for example. You are going to need FAR more calories on the day you work out than on a rest day. What if you did a moderate version of movement than what you normally do in a day?

Throwing that all aside

It is 100000%, not just calories in vs calories out. You can not eat 1200 calories of Fast food and be healthy. All these real foods have not only just your Macronutrients- It has Micronutrients- Which are JUST as important.

Some people truly think that they can get away with not eating ALL day long just so they can have a glass of wine with dinner. Or, because they indulged and had dessert they must now go run on the treadmill for 3 hours. This is extremely unhealthy both for your body as well as your mind.

Diets that Remove Food Groups

This really isn’t good for your body or mind. We need carbs, end of Story. This really is a whole blog topic in itself. But, trust me. It’s not good.

So What do we do then?

Well, we like to focus on intuitive eating. It takes some time to build up your intuition and learning to listen to your own body’s ques again. But, that is what we are here for! We help guide you through what that actually looks like.

Aside from all of that, everyone is biochemically unique. What works for me isn’t going to work for you or the next person. Everything is customized. We go through everything about your lifestyle and nutritional needs and come up with a plan that is 100% sustainable for you.

We want to restore balance to the body without causing more stress or inflammation. Let’s be honest. No one needs more stress added to their plate. There is enough of that going around right now.
