Resolutions # 1- I need to change… Or do I?

Resolutions- The holidays have come to an end and people are now ready for the new year. A time for Transformation, many feel the time to reach all your goals, and create a “New You”. This can lead to a crazy amount of changes and expectations, which are usually unrealistic.

First off, we want to tell you that there isn’t anything wrong with who you are. You don’t need to change you. We totally understand the want and need to feel happy and confident. Paired with all the energy, but you don’t need to change you to get that!

Creating a shift.

When going into resolutions you should be going into them for the right reasons. Not because you don’t like yourself. I learned that lesson the hard way. No matter, what I did, what I ate, I still didn’t like myself. I never seemed happy with who I was. I always strived to be that someone else, the person that everyone loved and wanted in their life.

This unhealthy obsession lead to an eating disorder as well as losing friendships for me. I so desperately wanted people to like me, that I clearly was missing the fact that people already loved me for me. It was really me that needed to love me.

What Defines Me?

The size of my waist doesn’t define who I am. It doesn’t change my personality or the fact that I love to help people. All of that is me and people can’t take that from me. Nor can they take it from you.

  • I love my arms- Because they allow me to hug my children or my loved ones.
  • I love my legs because they allow me to walk around and dance.
  • I love my back because it allows me to bend over.

Your Body cosmetically will forever be changing. It is just a body, It allows you to live out the journey and the tasks that you were meant to do.

Take Care of Your Body

Since we love doing all these things in our bodies, we need to make sure that we are taking care of our bodies. Allowing us to dance and hug when we want to. But, most importantly, feel how you want to feel.

If we constantly feed our bodies crappy foods, it is, in turn, going to make you feel crappy. Unfortunately, nourishing our bodies isn’t always what we think. It isn’t just about Calories, It isn’t always about protein, carbs, and fats. Doing things that you love and that make you feel happy. When is the last time that you just did something for yourself? Not because you had to? But, because you wanted to?

Throwing the Resolutions to the Wind

As we go into the new year, I don’t want you to think of all the things you want to change. I want you to things of all the things that you love and inspire. Think of all the things that lights that fire in your belly.

Throw away the “Diet”- Embrace Intuitive Eating
Throw away the “I need to change”- Embrace who You are
Toss out “I want people to like me” – People Already Love you
